The if i could… programme places skilled graduates and young professionals in organisations working solely in the development sector in New Delhi and Cape Town. New Delhi is one of our newest destination offerings and is an exciting opportunity for interns wanting something entirely different.
You might even find yourself in environments where you can talk to leaders in the South African justice system and this provides a real opportunity to share your thoughts and theories around real tangible change that we, as a country, can attain. Recently, if i could… programme assistant, Mbongeni Ngwenya attended a public dialogue held by The Centre for Conflict Resolution, where he met Justice Edwin Cameron, a judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. His new book, Justice: A Personal Account was launched at this event.
Our very own Founder and Director of Creative Consulting & Development Works and the if i could… programme, Lindy Briginshaw was featured in Go Overseas, an organisation focused on providing info to keen travellers who travel with a purpose.
The if i could… team is more than just an awesome and attractive group of individuals trying to save the world one internship at a time!
We’re also kind, happy, helpful people who want to see change happen. To this end we support the organisations in our network in numerous ways. Earlier this year we took part in Blisters for Bread which supports an organisation focusing on nutrition for previously disadvantaged individuals. Then there was our stellar performance in the Colour Run Cape Town, which supported another host organisation working out of Landsdowne and recently we did our bit, as volunteers at this years Cape Town International Kite Festival.
In the midst of this chilly Cape Town weather if i could… said goodbye to five interns who spent the last three months supporting non-profit organisations in South Africa’s rapidly growing development sector.
South Africa has now been enjoying the fruits of democracy for 20 years. When advocating for a peaceful transition after the fall of apartheid, Nelson Mandela said “…We as a people chose the path of negotiation, compromise and peaceful settlement. Instead of hatred and revenge we chose reconciliation and nation-building”.
So you have been Googling internships and may be asking yourself, “Should I intern locally or go abroad? And there are so many places in the world… where should I go?”
